The ski season has started in earnest in Whistler. With only a couple of weeks to go before the holiday season, things are looking good!
I been packing a few days in and the conditions are good. The snowmaking staff have been really busy the last couple of weeks and we now have ski outs to the valley at all major villages with the exception of the Creekside.
He received 5 inches if snow last night and there is more on the way!
Alpine Recreation Forecast For The South Coast Mountains Issued By Environment Canada At 2 Pm Pst Wednesday 12 December 2007.
The Next Mountain Forecast Will Be Issued At 5 Am Thursday.
Synopsis.. A Weak Upper Disturbance Will Move Across The Region Early Thursday Morning Giving Occasional Flurries Tonight And Early Thursday Morning. An Upper Ridge Will Build Later On Thursday Ahead Of An Approaching Frontal System That Is Expected To Spread Snow Across The Region On Friday.
5 Day Trend.. Snow Will Persist Through Friday Night As A Cold Front Moves Across The Region. A Second Frontal System Is Expected To Spread More Snow Across The Region On Sunday.
So, continuing cold conditions and a nice warm, wet system off the Pacific ocean will bring up to 60 cm of new snow by December 17, 2007. That will be a nice top up on the existing base that has pasted itself to the alpine rocks.
Almost time to bring out the new skis!

With the crazy weather we're having these days I can sit back and reminisce on the weekend I had a couple of weeks ago.
Beautiful sunshine, Untracked, light powder. Full moon nights at a small, alpine cabin.
