August 14, 2007
Are you thinking of a ski trip this year? If so, have you decided where to go? Aspen, Deer Valley, Lake Tahoe...Whistler?
Here is something that may help make your choice easier. Whistler Blackcomb Ski School offers specials on lessons during the season called 'Discover Whistler Days'. During these time periods you can save 40% on a lesson. These windows of saving run from Opening (usually around November 25) until December 21, 2007 - January 14 - February 8, 2008 - April 7-20, 2008.
Here is an example. You drive up from Seattle for a long weekend before the Christmas Holidays. You are an intermediate skier but really want to get comfortable all over the mountain. So, you sign up for a 'Super Group' Full Day Lesson. It will cost you about $170.00 including all taxes. During the regular season, December 22, 2007 until January 13, 2008 - February 9, 2008 until April 6, 2008, this lesson would cost $285. That is a 40% savings...so You decide one day is not enough...you need MORE!
As I said in an earlier post. It is OK to start planning, dreaming, thinking of skiing now. We're in mid August.

Whistler Peak to Peak Gondola
August 07, 2007
Well, you asked for it and you got it. If you don't know what P2PG means you will. Have another look at the title of the post...
P2PG = Peak to Peak Gondola.
What does this mean to the average hill user? Well, this $50 plus million dollar lift will allow you so get from Whistler to Blackcomb in about 11 minutes. Not bad. The total distance comes in at around 4.4 kms.
Now here is an interesting statistic. The highest point above ground is going to be 415 m - multiply by three to get feet. Yes, over 1200 feet above the ground. I'll let you in on a little secret. That is way higher than the sheet of ice in Quebec where I learned to ski. And all of this with only 4 towers.
I have no idea when the lift is expected to be operational. There was also a rumour that some of the cabins will have glass bottoms. All the better to see exactly how far off the ground you really are!
So remember. If you want to be the cool guy at the water cooler, make sure you know what P2PG stands for.
