Magical Time of Year
July 31, 2007
Am I talking about the release of the latest, and last Harry Potter Book? Or the long sunny days, filled with sand and surf? Nope! I am talking about the fact that August is almost here. And that means that it's almost legal to talk about skiing and planning your ski vacation to Whistler.
There is a golden rule that talking about skiing before August is too early. Of course, the season is still going at Whistler Blackcomb up on the Horstman Glacier. There are a handful of locally based camps. Camp of Champions, High North and Dave Murray Summer Ski Camps are among the most well known. Other teams are also here trying to get an edge on the competition for the upcoming season.
With the 2010 winter Olympics creeping into the horizon it will be an interesting time around the resort as the Canadian Team looks to dominate the podium in all events.
So, purchase that buyers guide and feel good about talking about past and future ski action. The season will be on us soon enough.

Whistler Blackcomb Glaciers
July 04, 2007
The summer season on Blackcomb mountain is going strong while the Whistler mountain bike park is getting ready for the annual Crankworx festival.
As glaciers retreat around the world you may be asking yourself if it's in the environment's best interest to run lifts in the summer. Whistler Blackcomb does extensive testing to ensure the salt that is used is done is a responsible way. I have to think that we will not see summer skiing on the Hostman glacier indefinitely. With new facilities opening up in BC I would expect to see Whistler Blackcomb close their facilities in the not too distant future.
Remember, this is just one guy's opinion!
