WHISTLER Bars & Pubs
Yes it's true, Whistler has a bit of a party reputation. One of those 'What happens in...stays in' kinda places. If you want to go for it the village is a great place to
do it because you don't have to drive anywhere! So, cruise from apres, to dinner to the club - all with your ski boots on...if you can handle it! I have to admit, I have looked at my feet at 8:00 at night and have been more than a little surprised to see plastic boots still on them - yikes!
Apres Locations
- Garibaldi Lift Company (GLC) - Located right on the Whistler Mountain ski out. Features a casual atmosphere, comfy chairs, big fireplace, multiple patios, big screen tvs, dj's and live acts are regularly scheduled. If you want to find your ski instructor
after work, look no further!. Child friendly until 8:00 pm.
- Merlin's - Located in the Blackcomb Daylodge in the Upper Village, Merlin's is also a local favorite. And, I'm sot sure if there is something in the water, but things can go sideways here in a hurry! If there is no seating available downstairs have a view upstairs. And beware, this is the
domain of Guitar Doug...a must see to beleive apres ski show! The patio is also awesome! Child friendly until 8:00 pm.
- Dubh Lin Gate - Features the best beer in town. You pay a little extra, but this is by far the most authentic 'pub' atmosphere in Whistler Resort. It's conveninetly located in the Pan Pacific Mountainside Lodge, seconds from the Whistler and Blackcomb Gondolas. The patio is small but offers great views. Small room in back allows children.
- Longhorn Saloon (LOHO) - Arguably the best patio in Whistler! I have to admit, I don't go here often but every time I go by there seems to be a rockin' good time going on!
- Citta' (Chittas) - Another local's fav. Music is selected through a juke box so you never know what you're going to get. Really, it's all about the patio and the people watching!
- Black's Pub - Great location with a huge atrium to watch the skiers hit the bottom of the slopes. Restaurant downstairs caters to families.
- Brandy's - If you want a nice quiet place to relax, this is it. Don't expect to see a lot of tourists here! Sports bar atmosphere and the beer comes in frozen mugs. Think the TV show Cheers and you get the idea. There is a small 'den' area that allows children.
- Dusty's - Another local's favorite. Dusty's is the place to be in the Creekside. Super casual atmpshosphere and a great BBQ themed menu. Child friendly until 8:00 pm.
Pubs/Lounge
- Dubh Lin Gate - Please see description above.
- Citta' (Chittas) - Please see description above.
- Black's Pub - Please see description above.
- Brandy's - Please see description above.
- Tapley's (Tap's)- The real local's spot. Whistler is, at it's core, a working class town. And this is where the workers go to unwind. If you want to get a true picture of what Whistler is really about, have a beer or six at Tapley's!
- The Amsterdam Pub - Another great people watching spot. Small, funky place. Very popular with the younger crowd!
- Cinnamon Bear - Cozy lounge atmosphere with big screen tvs. Want to sit in a leather chair and unwind? This is the place to do it!
- Upstairs in 21 Steps - Technically this is a restaurant. But really, this is one of the funkiest lounges in the resort. Want to hang with your buddies in leather sofas listening to the Beastie Boys? Look no further. And the food is great too!
- 3 Below - Kind of a weird place for a contemporary lounge; in the movie theatre. But 3 Below is worth a mention and also checking out!
Clubs
- Moe Joe's - Think Beer Hall. It get's loud and hot. There are some cool nooks and crannies to hang out in as well. It's pretty much a guranteed good time in Moe Joes!
- Tommy Africa's (Tommy's) - This is as close to a true 'club' as you're going to find in Whistler. If you want some dancing fun with live DJ's this is the place to do it.
- Garfinkel's (Garf's)- Very similar to Moe Joe's.
In fact, Moe Joe's was started by a group
who worked at Garf's in the 90's. Live music
and local's night on Thursdays set Garfs apart.
If you come to Whistler you have to check
out Garf's. Period.
- Savage Beagle (The Beagle)
- The Beagle is a unique little club.
There is a small bar upstairs where you can
talk to your friends and then head downstairs
to mix it up on the dance floor. Mostly acid
jazz/DJ music.
- Buffalo Bill's (Bill's) - Geared towards the mature crowd who want a no nonsense good time. Dance floor, pool tables, big bar area, loungy chairs and tables. Whatever your mood, Bill's will deliver.
